What is Garduino?
Garduino is basically an
automated gardening system the gives the plants water and light when they need
it, not when we want to give it to them.Let’s say you have plants at home and
you want to water them. You just cant go and pour one litre of water inside the pot in which the plant is placed.
And then the question arises, do the plants need and want that water at that
time and in what quantity? And plus we all are talking green but doing nothing
about it.So we built the garduino. It's accurate,
it's quick and it reduces human effort. Let's say we wish to make a greenhouse
kind of thing in our building or somewhere else that’s where the tube light
comes into action. If not, then only the pump does the job of giving the plants
water when they need it.
How does it work?
The iron nails act as
moisture sensors and they go in the soil. As the moisture is increasing and
decreasing, the moisture between the two nails is also increasing and
decreasing ;so they send readings to the microcontroller( arduino). For
the atmosphere around , we used an LDR (Light dependent resistor) as the light
sensor and a 10k ohm thermistor as the temperature sensor. They too send
readings to the microcontroller(arduino)
How do all the sensors send
Now, most sensors give analog readings varying between 0
and 1023.So its not like digital signals which is basically just an on or
off.Analog is like a wave between o and 1023 , thats how the moisture
sensors , light sensors and the temperature sensors work and send readings to
the micro controller
What does the microcontroller
I have used an arduino
microcontroller in our project .It is programmed in a
software called ARDUINO IDE which is based on another software called processing.According
to the program what the microcontroller is doing is that it is taking in analog
reading inputs from the sensors and deciding if the readings are more or less
and then turning on the tube light or pump accordingly.
